  1. Thibault Bougard

A little expensive for a piece of plastic but does the job.

  2. Steve

Allows your Philip’s hue switch to be mounted over an existing light switch which is handy, shame Philip’s dont make them a size which is more compatible with uk light switches rather than long and thin but that is not this products fault…Using this is easy, simply screws on top through the switch meaning that you can leave your lights on and use the hue dimmer to do the rest, tidy.

  3. Jakub

i dont really love the way this looks however its the best looking compared to the other ones ive seen. works perfectly tho and is easy enough to use.

  4. David Higgins

Does exactly what it says, covers the existing light switch nicely. The only issue is that the mounting screws are very short which made installing the cover fiddly but not impossible.

  5. Ian Kerner

Its a must if you want to wall mount your hue switch and stop people from using an old switch

I had to remove the complete plastic frame from ELJO in order to get this one in place. The screw holes was covered with the ELJO frame.

But besides that I’m very satisfied.

  7. ShavedApe

Does exactly what it’s intended to do. It comes with a little screwdriver that sadly is not fit for purpose it just bent and was unusable on first attempt. My screws weren’t in any tighter than youd expect hence losing a star.Comes with longer screws so you simply remove the old ones and replace them with the longer ones through the plate. Be careful not to over tighten as the plate will flex a little but I suspect it could also break if over tightened. There is no reason to over tighten though of course but still worth a mention I feel.

  8. Alex Bar

I bought this because my light switch is on a narrow pillar limited by the door frame. As it is the only one on the market that you can cut to fit, bit tedious, but worth it. I’d recommend it for its easy install.

  9. Alex

Very easy to install, fits perfectly over existing modern standard UK light switches.Love that it’s easily removable should you move, or want to change the style. From start to finish too 60 seconds to install. For those worried about how much depth this adds (projection), i’d say that it’s no deeper than a ‘old fashioned’ dimmer switch. No idea why Philips doesn’t produce this as standard.

  10. TheRobinsons

Fitted well. Even included a little screwdriver to put it up with. Holds my Hue switch perfectly

  11. Carole Bryant

Great holder for the Hue dimmer switch

  12. Amazon Customer

Good product. Hides wall switch well. Could be cheaper for what it is.

  13. E Jessup

Does the job, slightly not the right size to the screw holes but might be due to my switches not the product. Could sit a bit. Ore proud of the switch in order to not affect it when pressing hard/drunken (again might just be my switch being old and large)

  14. Harry

Really like this, works perfectly and pretty easy to install. Looks nice but there is a slight colour difference between the Philips Hue switch holder and the cover faceplate. Not massively noticeable but there is a difference. Pulling the Philips Hue cover from the faceplate is more challenging but can be removed with a little force with a flat head screwdriver at the bottom.

  15. Rob Thompson

I really like these as a neat solution to the issue of having a Hue switch and the original switch left open and accidentally switched off. As others have mentioned, I did have an issue with a double switch where the magnets on the Hue switch just pushed the original switch enough to turn the lights off. I moved the magnets and all was well. I understand the issue and obviously the manufacturers want to keep the switch as narrow as possible so they aren’t too prominent on the wall. So this is always a possibility and is resolvable. I have not had the same issue on single switches. I now have four of these and I will be buying some more to complete my project.

  18. Mr Paul George Jackson

Worked really well and great idea to still get to the main switch. They do protrude quite a way so are noticeable but less so than having two sets of switches!!!

  19. mr w r

note this item can be modified to fit slightly larger sockets housings.by cutting out the four lugs in each corner.as my sockets were larger than standard sockets.note you need to separate the backplate from the philips remote switch holder.this allows the philips magnetic backplate to be pushed and connected over the top of new switch housing.Removal of the magnetic plate is easy to remove just place a screwdriver underneath slotto reveal original access to light switches.

  20. Maureen Hanna

Works on a single sized double switch too

  21. Al Sayer

A very straight forward product that achieves what is required from it. The product arrived head of its expected delivery so that was nice. From there I was able to fit two of the units within a matter of minutes, really -I used my trusty electric screwdriver but the product does come with a handy little screwdriver which I was surprised to see. I used the screws provided as they were cleaner than the existing ones from my switches. The only downside is that they do make the light switch look pretty bulky as they stick out quite far. I am not sure if this is entirely due to the amount of space required to clear the existing switch or if the cover could be a little slimmer. Either way they did the job and allow my Hue dimmers to go where the light switches have always been.

  22. G. Whitehouse

Kinda expensive for some cheapo plastic, but does its job. Sadly looks pretty clunky, but at least the old switch is covered.

  23. Catzman

The Samotech offers a solution to the problem of accidentally turning off the switch to the lights and causing a reset of the current settings to default. It is nicely made of a quality plastic and is a good match for the Hue remote. However, the light switch behind the Samotech requires to be the most slimline possible or it will be fouled by the Hue top plate when fitted, resulting in the switch being turned off. Current switch couldn’t fit behind and I needed to purchase a slimline switch from Srewfix to get it to work.

Easy to fit. A good solution to fix the Philips hue dimmer to the wall

  26. KenEd

Like a number of reviewers have noted there is a tendency for the existing switch to toggle to the off position when the dimmer plate is clipped on. I inserted a thin (1mm) shim to compensate to get it operational.

  27. Aminul

This is a simply easy to install. Only cons is that the screws they gave does. It fit so I needed to buy my own screws.

Nice fit, just look a little bulky.

  29. S. Azari

If you don’t need to fiddle with the switch(es) underneath it’s great, however the plastic just holds the holster over the button, so you don’t have access to the buttons anymore. In my case there are some switches that have 3 buttons on for other lights but I can’t use them as a result.how hard would have it been to use it as a replacement to the holster and have magnets on the top and bottom with a hole in the middle for switch access?if they put a hole in the middle, it would have got 5 stars but 4 will have to do

  30. Walkerx

Got one of these in place of the other brand as this allowed access to the switch without having to fully remove it like the other make. it was a tight fit with the screws, but once on it’s secureI will be buying some more as need a few more switches converting

  31. Bruce

I ordered this product without knowing any history and the items that arrived were of good quality and they fitted over the light switches i had.

  32. A J Knight

If you’re using Hue for more than just supplemental mood lighting then you’re probably going to want to still be able to use a light switch. And if you want to fit the Hue switch to the wall, as well as stop people using the actual mains light switch, then you’re going to need this. It’s an essential. It’s nicely packaged, but it’s an expensive piece of moulded plastic with a couple of screws that goes over your existing light switch. It does the job just fine but, much like every other Hue component, will leave you with a sneaking suspicion that you’ve just been robbed blind.

  33. JD

This is a great product, but be aware that you won’t be able to fit it if the switch is too close to a door frame. You can get round this if you carefully cut the plastic with a fine tooth saw.

  34. jb008

easy to install and a perfect fit

  35. Amazon Customer

Once I worked out that the hue plate is in 2 parts it was easy to separate and clip onto the switch cover. Hides the screws which is a nice touch.

  38. Mr G M

Good Item but has a flaw. As others have stated the cover has not enough clearance between it and existing light switch, so it turns the switch off underneath. I solved this by threading the 2 retaining screws through a couple of small washers between existing switch and new cover to boost clearance by 1-2 mm.

  39. matt

These are great, they keep people from using the legacy light switches, philips really ought to supply these with the remote dimmer switches.

    Well manufactured product

  44. Mr M.

Absolutely ideal product, surprised that Philips haven’t included something similar in their range or with the dimmer switch. Works a treat and fits perfectly over standard switches, just be aware that the screws supplied with it won’t work for you if you’ve got longer electrical screws than standard in the fixing you plan to cover over (in the case of insulated plasterboard wall slabs for example). This cover adds about 15-20mm to the depth your screws will need to travel before they grab your wallbox, so be prepared in advance and order longer screws, or (like me) you’ll have to wait a little longer to get your funky little hue dimmer switch on the wall. Minor oversight, and not a flaw with the product as such, but the manufacturer should add a disclosure to advise people of the extra depth required and that they may need to buy longer screws.

  45. aldous

good quality. I have purchased 4 of them in total and very pleased with them. Was also looking for a good cover to house 2 dimmers but disappointed with the reviews of SM209 and hence holding back my purchase. 5 stars for the SM200 on its own.

  46. A J O’Brien

Fits standard switches both chrome and plastic. easy to fit in 10 mins and looks tidy once on the wall. Bought three so far and will order more.

  48. Dazza

Very good solution for light switches that need to be left on. Seems well made, good fit and colour match to the Hue switch.

  49. GeeBee

These switch covers are clunky looking, quite hard to fit and relatively expensive for what they are. However, they’re really the only game in town if you want to hide your light switches with a Hue remote. I had the usual problems with fitting as noted by others — incorrect distance apart of the screw holes, which required application of a small file to broaden them, and inversion required of the existing switch to prevent accidental turnoff of the lights. I didn’t need to resort to installing cheap, lower-profile switches just so I could cover them over. Aesthetically, they remind me of some sort of Mayan pyramid on its side. Perhaps Philips will come up with a more attractive solution, but I doubt it’ll happen (Brexit?) and, even if it did, it’ll probably cost at least twice if not three times as much.

  50. lenny

Neat way to hide the original light switch without having to physically remove and rewire it. Easy to fit. Maybe a bit expensive for what it is, but it seems to be the best solution available.

  51. Mark of Lincoln

The product fits very well, sturdy and works exactly as described,Although a very good product like most things for the Hue environment it is over priced. But in a limited market is exactly what’s needed.

This is a really good idea and compared to the others good that you have a larger apeture to handle double switches and other set ups.But – would have liked stick on!

had to remove the edges as stated on the description to get them to fit, had a light issue with a couple off them as they would flick the main switch off even if I turned them upside down but a bit off tissue worked like a charm

  55. Samuel Clemens

A great design and simple to install, this Hue switch cover prevents accidental switch off of the main lights.Though not an issue with the design as there’s no way of solving this with a switch cover, but my wife doesn’t like that it stands out so much from the wall, so I’m prevented from installing more.

Works great. Colour could match better to the Philips Dimmer Switch. Would be nice to provide some rubber washers to bridge the distance from the adapter to the switch plate when using light switches with a lower profile. The screws provided might also be a bit long for some switch boxes.

  59. Mo

The light switch cover is great when it fits. I had to change my light switch because there was not enough clearance between the cover and the switches. Instructions say 13mm clearance but in truth there was only 11.65mm.

  60. Mr. P. Graham

Really good product, excellent bit of kit. Very well finished too. My only complaint is that fitting instructions aren’t supplied. Found them on the website which was perfect. I didn’t realise there was a mount inside the hue switch unit that could come out, but since reading the site I find it fits perfectly and looks great. Very happy with the product

  61. C. Bateley

Great addition to the Hue range as it stops people turning the light switch off then rendering the hue useless. My only complaint is that if the profile of the light switch is a bit bigger than normal when you got the remote control plate it turns the light switch off. Overall great tho.

  62. Ant

Great product, works exactly as intended. The only drawback I had was due to my wired switch being raised in the middle I couldn’t sit the cover flush with the wall is this actually pressed the light switch to the off position. Still looks great and does the job though!

  64. Mr K

Almost perfect. Could be a little deeper though. The Philips frame just nudges the light switch causing it to go off sometimes. Fixed with a blu tac shim to raise it 2mm and works great now.

  65. Martyn

Perfect, it fitted over the existing lightswitch no problem whatsoever. It looks really good with the Philips Hue dimmer in place.

  66. doc_wellsy

I (and many other Hue users) have had issues with the light switches for years. I previously had a 3d printed cover for my light switches, but this wasn’t ideal as it didn’t look very well finished. This product solves all the issues, covering a standard UK plastic light switch and securely holding the Hue remote switch. It will cover up to a 3 gang switch, although if it is a 3 way switch, it would have to be the sort where the switches are right next to each other with no gap, or they would be too wide for this to for over. It comes with some longer screws to replace the existing ones in your switch.Didn’t initially realise that the hue switch comes in two parts- you have to remove the back part of the Hue fitting before it will fit over the light switches. It pops of with a screwdriver. (Photo attached).Once complete, the finished installation is quite big, but it’s by far the best solution available, and one that Philips should have released with the switches from the start. Fitting it takes about 2 minutes and very little effort. This is a simple, but good quality product. I wish the whole set up were available in a chrome finish.

  67. Rolfey

This do a fantastic job – especially when little people with exploring hands or the forgetful elderly relative are about. Stops then switching the lights off by anything but the controller and resolves that issue of two switches next to each other. Would be good if they also did a similar blanking plate to match and perhaps were a bit gentler on the pocket as ?10 a switch is a touch steep.

  68. DG

Gives a nice neat mounting solution and stops the existing light switch from being turned off. Loses 1 star as the white of the plastic is a different shade to that of the Hue switch.

This is the final perfect solution to the problem of guests turning your hue lights on and off using conventional light switches. After purchasing a hue dimmer switch, this product is a must to stop the old switches being used. Simple enough to install, however I did have a few issues with the old switch being too big so when the dimmer mount went over it, the mount kept turning the conventional switch off. This meant I had to buy a slimmer conventional switch (only ?1.50 from local hardware store) and replace that before installing this product. The screws it came with were not long enough for the fixing in the wall but had longer screws to hand instead. In all it’s a great product to tidy things up.

These are very nice and cover light switches really effectively and provide a good place to mount the hue switch, but they are very expensive for a piece of injection moulded plastic that probably cost about 10p to make so I’ve taken one star off. I guess the manufacturers are relying on the fact that anyone willing to pay up to ?50 for a light bulb is probably willing to spend ?10 on a cover for a light switch.

Well made product not a 3D print!!

  76. paulyev

Not as good as the previous ones ordered, not as well finished. Waited for these as I didn’t like the 3D printed versions but these seem to be slightly worse quality.

  78. Jon

Quite a neat design, nicely injection moulded by Samotech. Allows the standard magnetic USA mount to be adapted to a standard UK switch. N.B. there are a few UK switches that it won’t fit (I have a couple), but in general I think it would fit about 95% of standard rocker switch types. The only real gripe is that it does look a little bulky. Shame Philip’s can’t get their act together for the growing numbers of UK customers (I’d love to know how many switches they’ve sold in the UK) they could have easily made a UK version of the backplate mount!COME ON PHILIPS .. MAKE A UK VERSION!!In the meantime why not try one of these![UPDATE] If they come back in stock that is .. my guess is they’ve sold out. PHILIPS ARE YOU LISTENING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS !!?!?!!?

  79. Shane

Really good solution. Would be 5 stars except supplied screws a little too long (5mm shorter would be better for my fittings) and plate didn’t quite fit flush to wall because all 3 of my light fittings where not flush to the wall, an extra 2mm of depth would help. Only takes 2 minutes to fit.
