Description

An all-in-one Home Assistant hub – the SM310ZHA. Comes pre-installed with the latest Home Assistant OS, built-in Zigbee 3.0 radio, and optional Z-Wave 700-series radio in the dual-protocol variant. Replaces a Raspberry Pi + Zigbee dongle + Z-Wave dongle + SD card + antenna setup with a single fanless box. Ready to use in 5-10 minutes from power-on.

Three variants:

  • Zigbee only – cheapest variant, suitable if you only plan to use Zigbee devices (the majority of our catalogue).
  • Z-Wave only – for households already using Z-Wave devices and not planning to add Zigbee.
  • Zigbee + Z-Wave (recommended) – both radios in one box, gives you maximum flexibility for future device choices.

Why pre-installed Home Assistant beats a Raspberry Pi build

  • No setup time – plug in, browse to homeassistant.local:8123, finish the onboarding wizard. 10 minutes from box to running.
  • No supply-chain hassles – Raspberry Pi 4 availability has been intermittent for years. SD cards corrupt. Power supplies need to be specific spec. This hub bypasses all of that.
  • Faster storage than SD – internal eMMC flash, not an SD card. Massively reduces the storage-failure problem that’s plagued Pi-based HA installs.
  • Integrated antennas – Zigbee and Z-Wave antennas are properly placed inside the case for full omnidirectional coverage, not a USB stick on a cable.
  • Fanless design – silent, no moving parts. Sits in your living room or office without noise.
  • Officially supported HA Supervised installation – the full add-on ecosystem is available, including Mosquitto, Zigbee2MQTT, ESPHome, Frigate, AdGuard, and hundreds more.

What you can do with it

Home Assistant has over 2,000 integrations. With this hub you get out-of-the-box control of:

  • All Samotech Zigbee devices (switches, dimmers, modules, plugs, sensors, smoke detectors, leak detectors)
  • Generic Zigbee 3.0 devices from any manufacturer (IKEA TRÅDFRI, Aqara, Sonoff, Philips Hue, etc.)
  • Z-Wave devices in the dual-protocol variant
  • WiFi smart home devices (Tuya / SmartLife integration is built in)
  • Matter devices via the Matter integration
  • Apple HomeKit – HA exposes all devices as HomeKit accessories via the built-in HomeKit bridge integration
  • Alexa, Google Home – via the Nabu Casa cloud or local exposure plugins

Setup walkthrough

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable from the hub to a free port on your router.
  2. Connect the power supply (included). Power LED comes on.
  3. Wait 2-3 minutes for first boot.
  4. On any device on the same network, browse to http://homeassistant.local:8123 (or use the IP if mDNS doesn’t work).
  5. Run through the Home Assistant onboarding wizard: create an admin user, set location and units, install recommended integrations.
  6. Add devices: Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration → Zigbee Home Automation (or Z-Wave JS for Z-Wave variant). Both radios are pre-configured.
  7. Pair devices following each device’s pairing instructions.

Network requirements

  • Wired Ethernet connection to router (recommended)
  • Internet access for initial Home Assistant setup and updates (HA itself runs locally afterwards)
  • Standard home network – no VLAN configuration needed

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Samotech All-In-One Zigbee/Z-Wave Hub?

The Samotech SM310ZHA Hub is a compact smart-home gateway that comes with Home Assistant OS pre-installed. It serves as the central command hub for your smart home, giving you Zigbee 3.0, Z-Wave Plus, and 2.4GHz WiFi connectivity in a single device — no need to assemble Raspberry Pi hardware, dongles, or do complex software installation.

Does the hub work with the Tuya Smart Life app?

No — this hub runs Home Assistant, not Tuya. You manage devices through Home Assistant’s web interface and mobile app, not through the Tuya / Smart Life app. Home Assistant offers over a thousand integrations covering virtually every major smart-home brand, including a dedicated Tuya integration if you want to bring Tuya devices into Home Assistant.

Which protocols does the hub support?

The hub supports Zigbee 3.0 (built-in), Z-Wave Plus (built-in), and 2.4GHz WiFi (built-in). Through Home Assistant’s integration ecosystem you can also connect to a wide range of devices using other protocols and APIs.

How do I reset the hub?

Press and hold the power switch for approximately 10 seconds until the front halo light starts flashing green — this indicates that the reset process has begun. Leave the hub idle for 15–20 minutes for the reset process to finish reinstalling the software.

Does the hub come with a power supply?

No — the USB Type-C power supply is sold separately. The hub uses 5V USB Type-C power; the package includes the USB Type-C cable but not the plug.

What’s in the box?

The package contains: the SM310ZHA gateway, a USB Type-C cable, an RJ45 network cable, a wall mount, and a setup manual. The 5V USB Type-C power supply is sold separately.

What are the hardware specifications?

Quad-core Cortex A35 CPU with 2GB RAM and 32/64GB eMMC storage. Expandable storage via SD card up to 128GB (subject to OS limits). Network: WAN/LAN. Dimensions 12 × 12 × 3 cm, weight 320g. Working temperature −10°C to +60°C.

Can I expand storage with an SD card?

Yes — the hub accepts SD cards up to 128GB, subject to the OS’s own storage limits. This is useful for storing additional data or backups.
