Description
A 24 GHz microwave presence sensor operates using low-power microwave radar technology to detect movement and presence. These sensors are commonly used in smart homes, offices, and security systems. Concerns about health effects from microwave radiation often arise, but in the case of these sensors, the radiation levels are extremely low, well below the safety limits set by international guidelines.
Non-ionizing Radiation: The 24 GHz frequency used by microwave presence sensors emits non-ionizing radiation, which means it doesn’t have enough energy to remove electrons from atoms or damage DNA, unlike ionizing radiation (e.g., X-rays or gamma rays). Non-ionizing radiation is generally considered safe for human exposure at low power levels.
