What’s the difference?
Standard UK Light Switches
- Functionality:
These are the most common type of switches in UK homes. They toggle between two fixed positions: on and off. Once flipped, the switch stays in that position until manually changed. - Use Case:
Ideal for controlling a single light or appliance with straightforward on/off functionality.
Retractive (Push) Switches
- Functionality:
Retractive switches return to their default position (usually off) after being pressed and released. They don’t maintain a fixed on/off state. Instead, they send a momentary electrical pulse. - Use Case:
Frequently used in smart home setups, dimmer systems, or multi-way circuits where a single press might trigger an event (e.g., turning on a smart light or dimming).
