Common questions
Do I need a hub or bridge?
No. Samotech WiFi dimmers connect directly to your home 2.4GHz WiFi network — no hub, bridge or additional hardware required.
Does the rotary WiFi dimmer need a neutral wire?
No — the WiFi Rotary Dimmer Switch works on standard 2-wire UK circuits without a neutral. The pull cord ceiling dimmer does require a neutral at the fitting.
What app do I use to control them?
The Tuya or Smart Life app (free on iOS and Android). Once set up, they also respond to Alexa and Google Home voice commands and routines.
Will they work with 5GHz WiFi?
No — like most smart home devices, Samotech WiFi products require a 2.4GHz network. If your router broadcasts a combined network, the device will automatically connect on 2.4GHz during setup.
